Friday 2.12.10

Hello world! I can't wait to meet you all :0)
Finding out blankets don't taste that great
Ahhh... in the arms of my daddy!
I could get used to this :)
Ashley and the dialysis guru, Tim

Today started off a little scary but ended on a high note! Ashley had to have an EKG this morning for some possible heart/lung issues. But the docs came and said that the heart was just dilated, probably from all the fluid that is still built up in Ashley. She did another round of dialysis this morning as well. Ashley is doing really well with the dialysis and we really like the nurse, Tim, that comes and sits during the dialysis. Everyone here at Saint Luke's South has been just wonderful. We would recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone. Not only are they taking good care of Ashley, but our families as well. Since the Oliviers and Gorneys are all from out of town, they gave them a family suite to stay in! It has a double bed and a shower which has been really nice for Jerad and Lora.

And little Miss Jeryn had a fantastic Friday! She ended her brain cooling last night and was warmed up by this morning, which meant... Daddy got to hold her!!!! Jerad said he just held and looked at her for hours :) We can't wait for Ashley to do the same. She also got to have her first bottle and she sucked it right down. She's gonna be a good eater like her Uncle Trenton from the sounds of it! The doctors are just so impressed with how well Jeryn responded to treatment. So impressed that they even did the MRI today, a few days earlier than expected. They said there was no reason to wait with all of her vitals and monitors showing that everything was perfect. And the results said that her brain looks great, no damage that they can see. God has truly taken good care of that little miracle!

If Jeryn keeps improving at this rate then Children's Mercy is thinking that Jeryn can leave and come over and join her mommy at Saint Luke's! Ashley is still in the ICU and will probably still be here awhile :( So thank you for checking on them and thank you for your constant prayers!!!!

  1. OMG - I know this sounds silly since I hardly know Ashley and Jerad, but I welled up with tears when I read that Jeryn doesn't appear to have any brain damage. Being a mommy myself, I can not imagine what they've gone thru these last couple of days, not knowing what their child's future will hold. Jeryn truly is a miracle baby and Ashley gave her baby the greatest gift of all - strength and life thru a nearly tragic situation.

Ashley and Jerad certainly got a crash course in the strength it takes to be a parent and it seems they're coming thru like champs!

Thanks Aunt Kala for keeping us all up to date - Now I'm YOUR blog stalker!!
