I've been hearing complaints about a missed day on the blog. My apologies... work was a tad overwhelming after being gone a week :) But boy do I have some awesome student's parents! Everyone has been so understanding that I missed conferences last week and has been very concerned about my family. Now if I could just get their kids to settle down and lose some of their cabin fever. No outside recess for like the last 2 months has been killing us... kids AND teacher included!
Ashley has been continuing her uphill progress!!! She had another round of dialysis yesterday and today and her kidneys are really starting to wake up and produce some output. And today she even got the catheter taken out so she can start getting up and using the restroom on her own. She's gonna love me for putting this out there for the blog world :) She had a procedure done yesterday by her Ob-Gyn and had to be put under, but all went well and she was able to rest most of the day.
Jeryn is still over at the NICU at Children's Mercy and we are waiting for insurance to clear her leave. They are either going to discharge her back home or discharge her over to St. Luke's South with Ashley. She will be getting her IV out soon and the doctors want to make sure that she's able to feed solely from the bottle and be ready to see her mama! Word on the street is that she will be leaving either tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday. But don't worry... either way we'll be there with cameras flashing to document this miraculous event! Poor little Jeryn hates the camera flash but that's just something she's gonna need to get over... cause with all the photo-crazies and scrapbookers she's got in her family... there's gonna be LOTS of pictures!
And I have to give a BIG congratulations to some of our best friends... Dave and Dana Hermon... who are expecting their first baby in October!!! I have known Dave since childhood and he's been one of my best guy friends growing up. I have become real good friends with his wife Dana who is from New Mexico and came to KS for college, and Dave and Trent have become real good friends as well. We are soooo excited for their next big adventure and I look forward to getting to be "Auntie Kala" for some more of our friends!
