Day 4- Jamaica

Is it weird that I still have yet to blog all of our cruise from June?  What can I say... sometimes I suck at blogging.  But since today was so cold I needed a tropical post to warm me up :)

On day four of our cruise we docked in Jamaica and immediately got ready to leave for our excursion at Dunns River Falls.  The excursion was for a ride and snorkeling on a catamaran, lunch on the beach, then hiking the famous Dunn's River Falls.  Long story short... somehow Trent and I got on a different excursion then the rest of our family :(  We were honestly pretty disappointed for about 10 minutes.  Especially when this (picture up above) was our boat instead of the cool catamaran.  But then we gave each other a pep talk to snap out of it- we're on vacation, in beautiful Jamaica, having fun, we'll see our family later, stop being sad, etc. So we embraced our excursion with just the two of us!  Even if our boat wasn't as cool ;)

Waving goodbye to our family... hoping we'll see each other again soon.

At least the boat had free drinks!

Love me some Rum Punch :)

We got a 10 minute cruise that made a U-turn... while our family got to sail the open seas to go snorkel.  Awesome, haha.

Sorry the picture won't turn- it's from the waterproof camera and I can't figure it out.  This is the human chain we were with for our hike.  But the funniest person was the lady from China that Trent was holding hands with.  I think he pretty much carried her up the whole time... until she quit halfway.  Our favorite lines from her (said with an accent): "I tell people this sucky." and "This ludicrous."

Ready to star the climb up the falls.

The water was Fa-reezing!!!

1 of the 10ish "honeymoon" photos people took for us.  Since it was just the 2 of us everyone assumed we were honeymooners and the guides kept grabbing my waterproof camera to get us another shot.  We got tired of correcting them that no, we're not honeymooners- just on a family vacation.  However, our family isn't here.  Ya, we got separated... etc.  It got annoying so we just went with the "honeymooner" thing.  Secretly I loved it :)  I would LOVE to go on another "honeymoon."

We thought the Dunn's River Falls was AWESOME!!! We had a blast and would highly recommend anyone doing it if they go to Jamaica.  We then loaded our boat, got a ride back to dock, loaded a van, was driven to somewhat of a sketchy "market mall".  We were given a 15 minute time limit and man did me and Trent book it to buy the Red Stripe souvenirs for our family and a Jamaica ornament for our tree.  We were deathly afraid they would leave us and we didn't have a watch or phone to keep track of time.  I hate shopping time limits.

Once we got back to our port we got to walk around the markets there.  We bought some sugar cane to see what the real stuff was like.
It was okay.  A man on stilts had to show us how to eat it though.  Must've been obvious we were sugar cane newbies.

When we got back on the boat we showered and went to town on the room service.  This was round 1.  Yes, I say round 1 because we all decided to skip dinner that night since we were tired.  We just had more room service instead.

And here's what the rest of our family was doing in Jamaica...

Their super cool catamaran for snorkeling.

Bob and Lora at the Falls.

Ashley and Jerad on their climb.

I think this picture of them is awesome- Bob always gets the best shots!

An overall glimpse of what the human chains look like.  Pretty cool excursion!

  2. We loved Dunn's River Falls too! WE somehow (I say "somehow" but mean purposefully b/c the lady beside me kept pulling me down when she fell every 5 seconds- after I almost drowned I gave up) got disconnected so we just climbed it by ourselves! :) I'm with you - another honeymoon would be great!
